Tour Highlights: The Soul of the Spice Island

The Signature Experiences

  • Safari Blue: The Ultimate Marine Day A full-day adventure on a traditional wooden dhow. You’ll sail across the Menai Bay Conservation Area, snorkel through vibrant coral gardens, and enjoy a legendary seafood buffet lunch (including lobster and calamari) on a private, uninhabited sandbank.

  • The Turtle Encounter & Clear Kayaking A bucket-list morning in Nungwi! Immerse yourself in the Baraka Natural Aquarium to swim with and feed rescued sea turtles in a turquoise lagoon. Afterward, glide over the reefs in a clear kayak, offering a window into the underwater world beneath your feet.

  • Stone Town Cultural Immersion Walk through time with a guided tour of the Old Fort, the Sultan’s Palace, and the poignant history of the Slave Market. As evening falls, we head to the Forodhani Gardens to sample the famous "Zanzibar Pizza" under the stars.

  • Sunset Dhow Cruise There is no sunset like a Zanzibar sunset. Relax on cushions aboard a traditional sailing vessel, listening to live Swahili music and sipping refreshments as the sky transforms into a canvas of deep violets and oranges.

  • Spice Plantation Tour A sensory journey into the heart of the island. Touch, smell, and taste the "Big Three"—cloves, nutmeg, and cinnamon—and learn how these spices shaped the history of the world.

  • Mnemba or Prison Island Adventure Whether you choose to meet the Giant Aldabra tortoises (some over 150 years old!) at Prison Island or snorkel the elite reefs of Mnemba Atoll, your final days are centered on nature’s most magnificent creations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the mandatory travel insurance different from my own?
Yes. As of late 2024 and continuing through 2026, the Zanzibar government requires all foreign visitors to purchase a specific insurance policy from the Zanzibar Insurance Corporation (ZIC). Even if you have premium international travel insurance, this local policy is mandatory for entry. It costs $44 per person (or $22 for children aged 3–17) and is valid for 92 days. We recommend purchasing it online before you fly to avoid long queues at the airport
What is the "Infrastructure Tax" I see mentioned?
This is a standard government levy for all guests staying in Zanzibar hotels. The rate is currently $5 per person, per night. Please note that most hotels require this to be paid in cash (USD) or by card during your check-out process; it is typically not included in the pre-paid package price.
Do I need a Visa for Zanzibar?
If you are a Zambian citizen, you do not need a visa to enter Zanzibar for tourism—it is Visa-Free! Just ensure your passport is valid for at least six months from your date of entry. For other nationalities, a single-entry tourist visa typically costs $50.
What will the weather be like in early June?
June is one of the best times to visit! It marks the beginning of the "Cool Dry" season. You’ll enjoy clear blue skies and comfortable temperatures (averaging 25°C to 28°C). The Indian Ocean is calm and crystal clear during this time, making it the peak season for snorkeling at Mnemba Atoll or the Safari Blue excursion.
Do I need a Yellow Fever certificate?
Yes. Since you are traveling from Zambia, you will be required to show a valid Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate upon arrival at Zanzibar Airport. Make sure to pack your "Yellow Card" in your hand luggage so it’s easily accessible at immigration.
Is Stone Town safe to explore on your own?
Stone Town is generally very safe and the locals are famously hospitable. However, the streets are a literal labyrinth! We include a guided cultural tour to help you find your bearings and learn the history, but feel free to wander the main alleys and shops on your own during your leisure time.
